Hundreds of Hells Angels are poised to descend on suburban Langley to celebrate the motorcycle club's 25th anniversary.

The party hosted by the Angels' White Rock chapter is scheduled for the weekend of July 25-26.

It will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Vancouver, Nanaimo and White Rock chapters.

Font:****The RCMP sent out a media advisory yesterday -- two weeks before the big bash -- warning that they'll be ready for trouble, with officers drawn from around the Lower Mainland.

Langley Township Mayor Kurt Alberts welcomed the Angels family to his family-oriented community.

"We're very much a family community and we expect their conduct would be law-abiding and respectful to our citizens," Alberts said yesterday.

"We're not concerned [about potential trouble] because our expectation is their conduct will be law-abiding."

The White Rock chapter's clubhouse is in Langley Township, but Langley City chief administration officer Francis Cheung said he expects revellers to visit his municipality, too.

"Am I concerned? I guess any time you have that many Hells Angels coming to town, there is some public concern," said Cheung, speaking on behalf of vacationing Langley City Mayor Peter Fassbender.

"As far as we know, the RCMP have a co-ordinated, unified effort to monitor any issues that arise."

Angels spokesman Rick Ciarniello said he was surprised by the RCMP's advisory.

"I am surprised the police would alert the media to our celebration," Ciarniello said via e-mail. "I wonder about their motives to do so. It is a private party.

"It will not interfere with nor should it be of any interest to the public. Like any other group in society, we would like to celebrate our 25th anniversary privately. In keeping with that theme, we have nothing [more] to say."
